Liverpool vs Real Madrid

Liverpool will look to continue their super form when they host  Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday at 9pm  The Reds have lost just once all season across all competitions and have won all four of their Champions League matches to sit top of the table. While Real Madrid  have suffered a much worse start to the campaign, losing against both Lille and AC Milan to sit 18th in the Champions League, while they trail Barcelona four points in La Liga.

As mentioned, Liverpool are enjoying an incredible start to life under Arne Slot. The Reds are top of both the Premier League and Champions League tables while still going strong in the EFL Cup, with the earliest whisperings of a treble or even a quadruple starting to flow from the Anfield terraces. Liverpool won each of their final four games before the international break, including a 4-0 thrashing of German champions Bayer Leverkusen at Anfield. The Reds returned from the international break with a topsy-turvy 3-2 victory over Southampton, with Mohamed Salah showing that he is as ready as ever for the fight with two key goals.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, have endured a stuttering start to the campaign, sitting second in La Liga and way down in 18th in the Champions League with two wins and two defeats. Los Blancos were crushed 3-1 at home by AC Milan in their last European outing, but recovered to thrash Osasuna 4-0 just before the international break. A facile away win at Leganes was a a good way to return to action, and Carlo Ancelotti will hope his players can inspire some confidence ahead of what might well be their toughest game of the season.
